According to the latest figures provided by the National Park Service, the annual gross receipts for concessions was $765 million in 1998.
After expenses, concessions returned nearly $43.8 million to taxpayers and individual national parks this year.
Presently, there are 379 parks that make up the National Park System, but just one third of parks actually have concession operations.
